Midlife Purple Spirituality 4

There is a part of this journey nobody warns you about until you are already standing in the middle of it. It is the part where life stops being kind for a while, and you find out what your Purple Spirituality is actually made of underneath all the talk.

We have discussed it before in this series. Purple Spirituality is that royal connection with your mind, purpose, body, soul, spirit, and your higher self. It is the place where you become aglow, connected to your source, walking with retained purpose. That is easy to feel when the sun is shining, when the children are fine, when the job is steady, when the body still cooperates.

But midlife has a way of testing whether that royal connection was ever real, or whether it was simply a comfortable idea you agreed with on a good day. A diagnosis nobody saw coming. A job you thought would carry you home, gone. A marriage straining under weight it was never built to hold. A parent who once carried you, now needing you to carry them. These are not distractions from your quest for Purple Spirituality. They are the very road the quest runs through.

Trials have an honesty to them that comfort never has. They strip away decoration and leave only what is real. When everything you built your identity on begins to shake, you find out quickly whether you are still connected to your source, or whether you have quietly drifted back into the old patterns you were meant to leave behind.

A tested faith is not a failed faith. It is a faith finally being weighed. This is exactly where many people quietly step back from their quest, and it rarely announces itself. There is no dramatic exit. It looks like fewer quiet mornings, less time in the scriptures, skipping the gathering you used to look forward to, until the royal connection you once had has gone cold and you barely noticed it happening. Do not let a hard season become the quiet reason you stopped becoming erudite, stopped travelling light, stopped reaching for your source.

If you are in a season like that now, or you can feel one approaching, remember what this series has already told you. Silence from your source is not the same as absence, even when it feels identical in the moment. The pull to withdraw from your community is strongest exactly when you need it most, so resist it. Keep the rituals, the meditations, the reading, the devotion, especially on the days you do not feel like it, because a testimony built only on good days was never truly tested.

And ask a different question than the obvious one. Instead of only asking why this is happening to you, ask what pattern in you it is trying to reveal, so you can redeem it rather than repeat it.

Let the trial refine your testimony and not only your patience. What you survive does not simply sit with you. It becomes part of what you carry forward, part of the new pattern you were always meant to build, and eventually it becomes something you hand to someone else.

Every one of us will meet difficulty in midlife in one form or another. Purple Spirituality does not promise you will avoid the fire. It only asks whether you will still be quest-ing after your source, still panting after your deity like the deer for streams of water, when the fire comes.

You are being refined, not rejected. You are still becoming purple.
